CELTIC CHRISTMAS - Daniel Trimmer / 1995 * Tetraploid- A Cultivar with double the normal or 44 chromosomes. This doubling of chromosomes began in about 1960 with hybridizers using colchicine, a chemical that allows the number of chromosomes to double, but the cell does not divide. Tetraploids tend to have LARGE flowers with a HEAVIER substance to the petals, scape, buds and foliage. Color Description: red self with green throat. Dormant or deciduous foliage in winter months.
