HOT TICKET - BROOKS / 1993 * Tetraploid- A Cultivar with double the normal or 44 chromosomes. This doubling of chromosomes began in about 1960 with hybridizers using colchicine, a chemical that allows the number of chromosomes to double, but the cell does not divide. Tetraploids tend to have LARGE flowers with a HEAVIER substance to the petals, scape, buds and foliage. Color Description: bright red with slightly darker halo above triangular green gold throat. Semi-Evergreen foliage in winter months. Early Season to Mid Season flowering scapes as high as 29 inches with many blooms. Medium size Unusually Large 5 inch diameter flowers.
